The Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur is a dynamic and sustainable non-government organization that works and advocates for organic agriculture and ecological integrity. It has partnered with the Department of Agriculture-Caraga since 2010 and demonstrates that sustainability does work.
Led by its Executive Director Rex T. Linao, Ph.D, FDAI empowers organic advocate rice farmers and Indigenous Peoples communities towards enhanced stewardship of its resources.
The organization was made popular by their organically grown products championing their brand Hygeia Black Rice and other colored rice. The foundation is not only serving local markets but even across the country and abroad as well through its partnership with the Don Bosco Network Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Makilala, North Cotabato.
They were able to sustain and made a name for themselves as a trusted source of organically grown produce and processed products in the Caraga region through Hygeia Organiques.
For three consecutive years, 2017-2019 FDAI was recognized by the DA-Caraga as outstanding organic agriculture achievers awardee for group category for their exemplary contributions to the advocacy of the Organic Agriculture Program.
Despite the pandemic crisis, FDAI Inc. has seen the opportunity to showcase the benefits to the health and nutrition of organic products through starting up a new business venture the Hygeia Espesyals.
The concept of Hygeia Espesyals originates from the farm-to-table approach wherein the restaurant menus ingredients like rice, vegetables, eggs and meat came from their farm’s fresh produce. This is an excellent way to make local and organic food more available to their community.
